The novelization closely follows the plot of the film, with Austin Powers, a 1960s British spy, cryogenically frozen and thawed out in the 1990s to battle his arch-nemesis, Dr. Evil. The story is a hilarious spoof of James Bond films, as well as 1960s and 1990s popular culture.
