The story follows (Rajinikanth), a simple, righteous man from a wealthy joint family. His life takes a tragic turn when his cousin’s arrogant and cunning sister-in-law, Neelambari (Ramya Krishnan), falls obsessively in love with him. When Padayappa rejects her because of her haughty nature and marries the soft-spoken Vasundhara (Soundarya), Neelambari swears revenge. She systematically destroys Padayappa’s family, usurps his property, and forces him into exile. Years later, Padayappa returns stronger, wiser, and with the support of loyal friends and a reformed police officer. The film culminates in a high-voltage confrontation where Padayappa finally defeats Neelambari—not by killing her, but by breaking her pride.
