The most immediate aspect of a 640x480 screenpack on the Mugen 1.1 engine is the aesthetic blend. Because Mugen 1.1 utilizes OpenGL, even standard definition screenpacks benefit from smoother rendering.
Even with the screenpack installed, you must set the resolution in mugen.cfg :
If you are a creator building a (100+ characters) or playing on older hardware, this resolution is essential. However, if you are aiming for a boutique, high-fidelity roster of modern HD characters intended for a widescreen monitor, you may find the resolution limiting.
⚠️ M.U.G.E.N 1.0 typically used 320x240 or 640x480. M.U.G.E.N 1.1 can run 640x480 screenpacks perfectly, but not vice versa (a 1.1 HD screenpack won’t work in 1.0).
