Finale. Jesus disappears at dawn. Jonathan finds only the empty tunic and a single nail from the cross. Grieving, he drives to the desert, where a stranger (played by the same actor) picks him up hitchhiking. The stranger is kind, funny, loves bad coffee, and says, “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” Jonathan smiles. Cut to black. They’re trapped in a broken elevator for 12 hours. Jesus forces Jonathan to confess every lie he’s ever told. In return, Jesus admits: he’s not sure he was divine. “Maybe I was just kind. And kindness got dressed up as a god.” Jonathan, for the first time, offers comfort without irony. They escape to find the building has been praying for them—literally.
