As they try to escape the school, they encounter various obstacles, including other survivors who are not what they seem. Along the way, they discover that the outbreak may not be a natural phenomenon, but rather the result of a sinister plot.

If there is a downside, it’s the pacing in the middle chapters. After the initial party massacre, the story drags slightly as the girls wander the streets. There is also some fan-service that feels a bit tone-deaf given the gore level—it might be too titillating for pure horror fans, but too bloody for pure rom-com fans. It occupies a weird middle ground that might alienate purists of either genre.
