Unlike Tesla or some premium luxury brands, most Kia models (specifically those built before the widespread adoption of over-the-air (OTA) updates in the very latest EVs) do not update their maps via a cellular connection. They still require a physical transfer method. The Updater software manages this by downloading gigabytes of map data from Kia’s servers and preparing a USB stick to transfer that data to your car.
