The Hunsikers live next door to Will Rodman (James Franco), the scientist who raised the genetically enhanced chimpanzee, Caesar. The tension in the film arises from the stark contrast between Will’s domesticated, intellectual view of Caesar and the Hunsikers' fearful, aggressive perspective.
Played by British-Canadian actor David Hewlett (well-known for his role as Dr. Rodney McKay in Stargate Atlantis ), Douglas Hunsiker is the tertiary antagonist of the 2011 film Rise of the Planet of the Apes . Unlike the scientists at Gen-Sys or the cruel guards at the primate sanctuary, Hunsiker is simply an aggressive and bad-tempered neighbor of Will Rodman.
