Perez travels to Glasgow to follow leads regarding Robbie Morton's connections.
“Identity theft. Her real name was Mary Paul. She was the first girl Lizzie McKenzie tried to help. The Shepherd’s first victim, ten years ago. Catherine found her, hid her in Norway. Calum found her two weeks ago and silenced her.” Iain exhales
Iain doesn’t deny it. His hands tremble for the first time.
“Sir,” says DC SANDY WILSON (30s, earnest, always trying to keep up). “We found something in Iain Ross’s bank records. Monthly payments. To a clinic in Norway. For the last ten years.”
The wind screams. Perez stands at the edge, looking down at the churning North Sea. Tosh joins him. We lost touch after she ran away
“Detective Inspector. This is a surprise.”
Calum’s smile doesn’t waver. “My name came up. Charges were never filed. Because I didn’t do anything.”
