Kafka reveals that Guideau is not merely a victim, but a "Vessel" being prepared for something. Ashaf breaks Guideau out of containment not to fight Kafka, but to act as a distraction. Guideau, furious and humiliated, taps into his curse. In Season 2, we see a new evolution of Guideau's condition. He manages to partially suppress the curse's side effects, allowing him to use his male strength without completely losing his mind, if only for a few minutes.
The first season adapted approximately the first 28 to 30 chapters of the manga, ending just before one of the series' most anticipated storylines: the .
