SPLM allows users to borrow a license for offsite work. When a license is borrowed, the server decrements the available count and creates an entry in its database tagging that specific license to a specific user or machine for a set duration.

Because Hexagon no longer generates keys for the older SPLM system (effective December 31, 2024), many users are encouraged to upgrade.

Corporate network security is a frequent, unintentional culprit. Some next-generation firewalls inspect the contents of packets, not just their destination. When the SPLM attempts to send an encrypted license token, the firewall may attempt to “validate” or modify the packet, inadvertently corrupting the cryptographic signature. This triggers Error 7502 instantly.
