The first thing you notice is that Activ8 takes security seriously. Perhaps too seriously for 8:00 AM when I haven't had coffee. The authentication process is robust. It remembers my device for about five minutes before deciding it needs to re-verify my identity. While I appreciate that my social security number and bank details are locked away tighter than the Crown Jewels, the multi-factor authentication can feel a bit aggressive. I’ve spent more time than I’d like digging through my email for 2FA codes just to see if my overtime was calculated correctly.

** The Interface:** Once you survive the login gauntlet, the dashboard is surprisingly clean. Unlike other payroll systems that look like they were designed in Windows 95 and never updated, Activ8 is modern. The widgets are customizable, so I can push the things I don't care about (company-wide announcements) to the bottom and keep the things I do care about (Pay History) front and center.
