Blocking is a common coping mechanism for managing toxic interactions on social media. However, little research examines the reversal of this action—unblocking. This paper explores the psychological, social, and technical dimensions of unblocking a friend on Facebook. Using a mixed-method approach (user survey and interface analysis), we identify motivations for unblocking (e.g., conflict resolution, emotional growth, mutual friends’ pressure), the UX challenges of Facebook’s unblocking process (accessibility via Settings > Blocking > Unblock), and post-unblock relational dynamics (e.g., no automatic refriending, need to resend friend request). Findings suggest that unblocking is a non-trivial digital reconciliation act that lacks adequate design support. facebook unblock a friend
