Verify that your network settings are correct:
GameRanger functions by having one player act as the "host." Other players connect directly to that host's IP address. Firewalls are designed to block unsolicited incoming connections (exactly what GameRanger needs to accept) to protect your computer from threats. Therefore, a default firewall configuration often treats GameRanger traffic as a potential threat and blocks it, resulting in "failed to join" errors or high latency (lag). gameranger firewall problem

If you have a modem from your ISP connected to a personal Google or Netgear router, you might have a "Double NAT" issue. You’ll need to put the ISP modem into "Bridge Mode." Follow these steps in order

Type your Default Gateway (from the same ipconfig list) into your web browser. Log in with your router credentials.
