For IT admins or users who want a permanent solution that survives a reboot, the BIOS/UEFI settings are the final frontier. This is particularly useful if you are a programmer or Excel wizard who never uses the multimedia keys.

Look closely at your keyboard. Locate the key (usually next to the left Ctrl). Now, look for an Esc key. Does your Esc key have a small icon that looks like a padlock with "Fn" inside it? Or perhaps just the letters "FnLk"?
